What a fantastic club event and atmosphere at AVR over the hills 12k trail run, with a 20+ strong club turn out! Spirits were high for this tough but fun run, from Rob Bobby James coming home first chilli to Lauren, Nicole and Kiera showing the club spirit and finishing hand in hand over the line.
The event started out with not so much a bang but light fizzle and watching the different group of Chillis all fighting for a bit of elbow room into the narrow section. Most got though the mud with no spills apart from Martyn Jones dressed in white! Onto the kissing gates and Robbie Allan having wasted a few seconds from the gate being locked, a dirty tactic by Kirky but one we all wish we taken against this flying hot chilli. Down to the Iford manor ford and apart from one triathlete who never wanted to get wet everyone got through safely if not a little wetter than they anticipated, no thanks to Kiera. Back onto the canal tow-path and in the mid field, things were hotting up with Simon Blacker dropping back into the clutch of Martyn Jones, Matt Dicker and Richard Blissett only for the seasoned Ironman athlete to find another gear in the last ¼ of a mile and maintain his lead.
With the whole club back home safely it was time to pay for the boatman breakfast all apart from Nicole Jackson who won the spot prize and got a free breakfast.
Well done to all the club for supporting and taking part. Very social and enjoyable event.
